Derik was admitted as an Attorney in 1981 and is also an admitted Conveyancer and Notary Public. He established the law firm De Villiers De Beer Inc in 1983 (which firm still exists in Pretoria), but joined GLM as a Director in 1995. In his twenty-eight years in practice Derik has been involved in most fields of law, but specializes in Insolvency Law and investigative work within the regulatory environment. Derik serves on the panel of the Master for purposes of taking appointments as Liquidator or Trustee and as Curator Bonis. He is a fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) and a member of the Association of Insolvency Practitioners of Southern Africa. Due to Derik’s vast experience the key features of his practice include Alternative Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Administration of Deceased Estates, Business Rescue, Curator Bonis appointments, Estate Planning, Inquiries, Forensic Investigations, Insolvency Law (including litigation), Liquidations (including taking appointments to act as Liquidator or Trustee), Sequestrations and Statutory Inspections.
